Jordan Henderson Biography
Jordan Brian Henderson MBE was born in England on June 17, 1990. He is a professional football player for Liverpool in the Premier League and the England national team.
Achievements
Henderson started his journey with the Sunderland Academy. Back then, he was eight years old. Ten years later, in November 2008, he played for the first team for the first time. In 2009, he went to Coventry City on loan for six months before returning to Sunderland. Henderson joined Liverpool in 2011 and won his first trophy with the team, the League Cup, the following year. Henderson was named Liverpool’s captain in 2015. In 2019, he helped the team win the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. In 2020, Henderson led Liverpool to its first Premier League title in 30 years. Henderson was named FWA Footballer of the Year because he played well during the season. His team won the title.
Henderson is a member of the England team and has played more than 60 times for his country since his debut in 2010. He has played in five international games for England: the UEFA European Championships in 2012, 2016, and 2020, and the FIFA World Cups in 2014 and 2018. He is the first English player to win the England Player of the Year award at both the U-21 and senior levels.
As an international player
Henderson first played for England’s under-19 team against the Czech Republic in 2009. He then joined Stuart Pearce’s under-21 party. He scored his first goal for England in the play-offs against Romania for the European U21 Championship. Jordan hit a volley from outside the box to put England ahead. He was the team’s captain at the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Roy Hodgson chose Henderson as one of the 23 people going to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He started for England in their first two group games at the World Cup. But they lost 2–1 to Italy in Manaus and Uruguay in So Paulo.
Jordan’s First Goal
Henderson scored his first goal for England against Ukraine in the quarterfinals of Euro 2020 on July 3, 2021. He came in as a substitute and scored England’s fourth and final goal with a header in a 4–0 win.
Jordan’s Personal Life
Henderson went to Farringdon Community Sports College before he became a young player for Sunderland. Henderson and Rebecca Burnett, his wife, have three kids. His father, Brian, was a police officer and played football as a hobby. He beat oral cancer when Jordan was just starting with Liverpool and was able to go to the Champions League final in Madrid this year.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson got in touch with other Premier League captains to set up a COVID-19 fund that would raise millions of pounds for the NHS. He thought Premier League footballers should put money into a fund for NHS workers on the front lines.
