Jimmy Adams’ contract is set to end, thus West Indies announce a search for a new director of cricket: Jimmy Adams’ contract with the Cricket West Indies (CWI) is set to expire at the end of June, hence the organization is looking for a replacement. Since January 2017, Adams, who represented the West Indies in 127 one-day internationals and 54 tests, has held the position.
The CWI has announced that the application deadline for fresh candidates is June 14. When Adma’s contract expires, a fresh candidate will have the chance to fill this important position.
“Jimmy’s leadership and contribution over the past six and a half years are greatly appreciated, and we thank him for both.
With regard to Coach Education & Development, Sport Science & Medicine, and most recently with the opening of our Academy at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) in Antigua, he has completely rebuilt our High-Performance framework.
Jimmy will undoubtedly continue to contribute to the sport, especially West Indies Cricket, said CWI CEO Johnny Grave.
Adams also oversaw the creation of the Caribbean Premier League and the implementation of a new selection policy, which included the appointment of separate women’s and youth selection committees.
The West Indies men’s team encountered considerable difficulties on the pitch during Adams’ leadership. Since winning the T20 World Cup in 2016, they have found it difficult to repeat their feat, failing to get to the knockout stages in consecutive ICC competitions. They also had a terrible World Test Championships record, coming in second to last place in both the 2019–21 and 2021–23 competitions.
“It has been a privilege to be a part of CWI’s continued development. I’ve had the honor of working with some truly remarkable individuals throughout the institution, and I’m appreciative of all the assistance they’ve given me over the past six or so years. I wish everyone the best in the future, particularly in view of the different regional and international difficulties that are present, Grave continued.
