Jamie Carragher takes cheeky Cristiano Ronaldo dig after Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Arsenal
Jamie Carragher takes cheeky Cristiano Ronaldo dig after Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Arsenal: Following Manchester United’s spectacular 3-1 victory against Arsenal on September 4, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher took a swipe at superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the second half, Ronaldo made a cameo appearance for the Red Devils. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has sat on the bench for the fourth straight game. Despite his influence, he was unable to claim any accomplishments. The storied Portuguese has yet to create an account despite playing in six games this year.
Last summer, Ronaldo made his way back to Old Trafford from Juventus. For a struggling United team, he scored 24 goals in 38 games across all competitions. He was the third-highest scorer in the league with 18 goals scored.
The prevailing notion has been that United will do worse without his goals. However, the club has displayed incredible grit the previous four games to win four games without needing to rely on Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a tweet, Carragher noted this reality as he wrote:
Without Ronaldo’s goals, what will happen to #ManUtd?
Fans may recall how Ronaldo refused to shake hands with Carragher before his team’s match against Liverpool. Prior to Manchester United’s match against the Reds, Carragher was providing the commentary with Gary Neville and Roy Keane.
While getting ready for the game, Ronaldo dropped over to talk to Neville and Keane. The player, though, was not in the mood to argue with Carragher.
On Sunday, United defeated Arsenal, handing them their first loss of the season. Before the match at Old Trafford, Arteta’s team had a perfect record, winning five of their first five games of the season.
The freshly signed Antony scored, while Marcus Rashford scored twice to help the Red Devils defeat the Gunners. With 12 points after their first six games of the season, they are now in fifth place in the league standings.
Despite the loss, Arsenal still leads the league with 15 points after six games.
After beating Arsenal, Cristiano Ronaldo addresses the Manchester United supporters.
At Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo did not start the match against Arsenal. He did, however, become a consistent menace in attack after being brought on as a substitute in the 58th minute.
Despite failing to score, the No. 7 was in a good mood following Manchester United’s convincing victory. On his Instagram post, the former Real Madrid player wrote:
“Good work, guys! And a special thanks to everyone of our backers! Embark now, Devils!”
On September 8, the Red Devils will play Real Sociedad in the group rounds of the Europa League.
