Aakash Chopra on deciding between Axar and Ravindra Jadeja as India’s preferred spin bowling all-rounder
“It’s Axar Patel in my book” -Aakash Chopra is an Indian international cricketer who bowls all-round for India in all formats of the game.
He also competes for Gujarat in domestic cricket and the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox.
Aakash believes Axar Patel should be India’s first-choice spin-bowling all-rounder for the 2024 T20 World Cup instead of Ravindra Jadeja.
Axar took 2/17 in four overs as India dismissed Afghanistan for 172 in the second T20I in Indore on Sunday, January 14.
The Men in Blue knocked down the goal with six wickets and 26 deliveries to spare, securing the series ahead of Wednesday’s final in Bengaluru.
While conceding that Axar bowled an exceptional stint, Chopra believes that Axar should not have been named Player of the Match for Sunday’s game.
He believes Shivam Dube should have received the award for the second time in a row due to his overall performance.
