Italy claims final gold medal of ISSF Shotgun Grand Prix. Italy found itself lucky to have received the last gold medal in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun Grand Prix. The country, Italy finished third in the overall standings in Konya, Turkey.
Elia Sdruccioli and Katiuscia Spada shone in the competition. To bring glory to the country, they shot and won in the mixed team skeet final. The 6-2 victory against Mustafa Serhat Şahin and Nur Banu Ozpak of the host nation, gave Italy a glorious opportunity to bring a gold medal to their country.
A great performance was displayed by Sdruccioli in the deciding duel. She did not afford to miss a single of her 16 targets in the course of four rounds.
The two teams landed in a draw in the first round. The world silver medallist Spada and Sahin both skewed a shot.
The second round repeated the same scenario taking the score to 2-2.
A breakthrough came in the third when the Italians shot perfectly while Sahin and Ozpak both, unfortunately, missed the target and gave their opponents points (2 points).
The Turks then capitulated at the end of the final round and missed three times, and hence lost all chances of equalizing.
Eman Al Shamaa and Abdullah Al Rashidi of Kuwait won the first bronze medal in a duel match with a score of 6-4 against Javid Hasanov and Rigina Meftakhetdinova.
Another second bronze medal duel match took place between Azerbaijan and Kuwait. Fuad Gurbanov and Nurlana Jafarova beat Mansour Al Rashedi and Fatema Al Zaabi by 7-1.
When the final result was declared, it was observed that Kuwait topped the medals table acquiring three golds, two silvers, and a bronze while Turkey stood second with one gold, two silvers, and a bronze.
Italy was in third place with 1 gold and two bronze medals.
The next ISSF Shotgun Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at Almaty in Kazakhstan from July 28 to August 8, 2022.
