Prasidh Krishna, Team India’s pacer, had an unimpressive Test debut, failing to make an impression in the first Test against South Africa at Centurion.
The teenager gave up 93 runs in 20 overs while taking only one wicket. Despite his poor performance, former India hitter Sanjay Manjrekar says it would be unfair to remove Prasidh after just one match.
The cricketer-turned-commentator believes the team’s administration, led by Rahul Dravid, would give Prasidh another chance.
He did, however, speculate that if Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli were still in charge of the Test team, they would have taken the risk of removing the spinner.
India lost the Boxing Day Test by an innings and 32 runs after scoring 245 in the first innings and 131 in the second. South Africa, on the other side, scored 408 runs throughout their innings.
“Shardul Thakur plays because he can bat” – Sanjay Manjrekar
Blowing all-rounder Shardul Thakur, like Prasidh Krishna, failed to get going with the ball in the Boxing Day Test.
He was the most costly Indian bowler in the contest, conceding 101 runs in 19 overs.
According to Sanjay Manjrekar, Thakur is projected to appear in the playing XI due to his batting skills. In international Tests, he stated that the Men in Blue want to have depth in their batting lineup, adding.

Thakur concluded with just one scalp. While he contributed a good 24-run knock in the first innings, he was out for just two runs in the second.
