It seems like you are doing an injustice if you leave Axar out”. -Aakash Chopra on deciding between Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav for the third IND-ENG test.
Aakash Chopra on deciding between Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav for the third IND-ENG test
Aakash Chopra believes Kuldeep Yadav should be an automatic selection in India’s starting XI for the third Test against England. However, he recognized that leaving Axar Patel out may not be fair.
The third game of the five-game series will begin in Rajkot on Thursday, February 15
With Ravindra Jadeja allegedly healed from his hamstring injury. Kuldeep or Axar may have to make place for him if the hosts decide to play only three spinners.
In a video published on his YouTube channel, Chopra pointed out the difficulty for the Indian squad, perhaps deciding between Axar and Kuldeep.
Kuldeep took four wickets in the second Test, replacing Jadeja in the playing XI. Axar took five wickets and scored 133 runs at a good average of 33.25 in the first two Tests.
Aakash Chopra believes India may play four spinners instead. Given Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar’s limited contributions in their one game each.
Chopra went on to say that Rohit Sharma and his team may even contemplate using Washington Sundar. Instead of Axar Patel since the batting would not be harmed.
He finished by stating that if India has to play two seamers, he will vote for Kuldeep as the third spinner.
However, he stated that he will not be unhappy if Axar is chosen because he, too, deserves to play.
