IT monitory summoned Wikipedia after someone hampered with Arshdeep Singh’s wiki page: On Sunday, 4 September India lost a match against Pakistan in a thrilling game. Arshdeep Singh became the talk of the town after he dropped a catch in the final overs. He became a target of online trolls. He dropped a game-changing catch on Asif Ali. Asia Ali later took the game away from India.
Consequently, India went on losing the fixture and that led Arshdeep to be the target of trolls. Though he had only 7 runs to defend in the final over, he managed to take a wicket, taking the game at 2 runs at 2 balls. However, with 1 ball to spare Pakistani batsmen manage to take 2 runs.
A series of tweets are made by some users targeting Arshdeep. Many brutally trolled the 23-year-old and some called him Khalistani.
Additionally, It took another turn when someone made edits to their Wikipedia page of Arshdeep.
Apparently, they replaced India with Khalistani and made changes regarding the same on his wiki page.
Sira exposed Pak Agenda
The IT ministry summoned Wikipedia officials regarding the same. The ministry asking for an explanation from executives on how Arshdeep’s page was changed to ” Khalistani Slurs”
Earlier, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa highlighted several Pakistan-based accounts that have targeted Arshdeep. They are targeting Sikhs in general.
He wrote in a tweet ” I condemn Pakistan’s anti-Sikh propaganda targeting Arshdeep Singh to portray him as the reason for the loss. The media channels, influencer accounts, and journalists of Pakistan are hitting Arshdeep in the Context of Khalistan.
Former players are extending their support to Arshdeep. The Cricket fraternity is backing Arshdeep. From Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli, Harbhajan Singh made a series of tweets supporting Arshdeep.
Virat Kohli in the post-match conference said anyone can make mistakes. It is just unfair to make him responsible, it’s a high-pressure game. When I was playing my first match against Pakistan, I even got out with a poor shot.
