Wasim Jaffer’s, a former opening batsman, recently selected his ideal Indian playing XI for the first ODI matchup with the West Indies. On Thursday, July 27, it will be held at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Jaffer selected Shubman Gill to bat first with skipper Rohit Sharma, with veteran hitter Virat Kohli batting third. Sanju Samson was chosen by the experts to replace Ishan Kishan as the wicketkeeper.
Wasim Jaffer’s starting XI included two other middle-order hitters in Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. It’s interesting that he chose two left-arm spinners. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, while leaving out Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg spinner.
Wasim Jaffer also added Kuldeep Yadav, Umran Malik, and Mohammed Siraj as additional bowlers.
Siraj won’t be playing in the match, despite Jaffer choosing him for the first ODI. He was given a break for the three 50-over matches and has since returned back to India.
In order to find their ideal playing lineup ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and company will need to win the upcoming series. In contrast, West Indies will be eager to redeem themselves after missing out on the World Cup.
At the just completed two-match Test series, India outclassed the opponents and won 1-0. Given that they needed just eight wickets on Day 5, the Men in Blue had a good chance of winning the second Test as well. After the final day of play was canceled due to rain, the match, however, finished in a draw.
