Lalit Modi was in charge of the Indian Premier League as its chairman. The inaugural season of the Indian Premier League was from 2007 to 2008.
The inaugural year of the IPL was 2008, and the first match was held on April 18. Eight teams were formed to begin the IPL season. One match between each team was played. It is a domestic cricket league that annually draws a large number of cricket fans from all over the world.

Chennai Super Kings are the other team to win the IPL on four separate occasions, finishing second once.
