IPL Trade and News: RR, LSG Swap Avesh Khan and Devdutt Paddikal: Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals have made a direct swap deal for Avesh Khan and Devdutt Padikal on Wednesday (22 November). So, come IPL 2024, Avesh will be moving to the Royals, while Padikal is set to be a part of the Super Giants franchise. The development was confirmed to Cricbuzz by LSG management.
This will be Padikkal’s 3rd franchise in the IPL after being a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore before his stint with Rajasthan Royals. After an impressive start to his IPL career as an opening batsman, the left-handed batsman faced lackluster returns at RR, especially in the middle-order role he was given in the last 2 seasons.
With the inclusion of Padikkal, the already formidable batting unit of the Super Giants has become even stronger with the likes of Kyle Mayers, Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Krunal Pandya.
It has been a similar story for Avesh Khan, who had an impressive 2022 season where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for LSG, but his form slowed down thereafter and was hampered by the sluggish Lucknow pitches. The bowlers were not getting enough help, and the 26-year-old veteran’s performance declined.
With the Jaipur Sawai Mansingh pitches expected to favor fast bowlers more, Avesh will be looking to make a comeback while facing competition from other domestic fast bowlers like Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Sen, and Prasidh Krishna.
