On Wednesday, the England opener Jason Roy was brought in by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to help the team recover from injuries sustained by regular captain Shreyas Iyer and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
KKR did not specify whether Roy would be available for the IPL home match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday.
Shakib withdrew from the game and Iyer sustained a back injury due to personal and national commitments, respectively. The Indian Boss Affiliation’s two founders had to overcome a significant physical obstacle.
“For Rs., British player Jason Roy has been acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders. from the initial 1.5 million rupees he paid for the Farewell IPL 2023,” KKR stated in a clarification on Wednesday.
Roy last played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 IPL season. During the 2017 season, he made his debut for the Gujarat Lions.
He played in five games in 2021 and scored 150 runs, 50 of which were centuries.
In 64 Twenty20 matches for Extraordinary England, the 32-year-old batsman has scored 1,522 runs with eight fives at a strike speed of 137.61.
Roy is likely to take the place of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who started for Afghanistan and scored 22 runs from 16 balls in their match against the Punjab Kings. N Jagadeesan is prepared to put on gloves because he is a member of the purple separation at the moment.
