5 flop players of the World Cup will become rich in IPL
Released players can now file their nominations for the IPL 2023 mini-auction. But there are some players in this list who may have to return empty-handed from the auction due to their old age or poor performance. Today, in this special article of ours, we will tell you about five such released players, who are unlikely to find a buyer in the upcoming mini-auction.
So let’s know who are those five players –
Aaron Finch –
Australia’s T20 format captain Aaron Finch was inducted into their IPL 2022 squad by Kolkata Knight Riders after star England batsman Alex Hales pulled out of the tournament. But Finch could not take advantage of this opportunity.
He scored just 86 runs in five matches last season at an average of 17.20 and a strike rate of 140.98. Of these 86 runs, 58 came in his single innings, which meant that he was dismissed very cheaply in all other matches. Apart from this, T20 World Cup 2022 was also not good for Finch.
It is probably because of his form that KKR released him and it is going to be very difficult for the right-handed opening batsman to find a buyer in the upcoming mini-auction as well.
Robin Uthappa –
Robin Uthappa, who played a key role in India winning the T20 World Cup 2007, has played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He has played a total of 205 matches in his IPL career, in which he has scored 4925 runs at an average of 27.51.
Talking about the last season, he was bought by CSK in the IPL 2022 mega auction at his base price of Rs 2 crore. But Uthappa did not perform as expected. The right-handed batsman scored 230 runs in 12 matches at an average of 20.91. Also, now he is 37 years old. In such a situation, it is difficult to say that any franchise will bet on him.
Ajinkya Rahane –
Ajinkya Rahane was included in their team last year by Kolkata Knight Riders by paying one crore rupees. But Rahane showed a very disappointing performance. The right-handed batsman scored just 133 runs in 7 matches in IPL 2022 at a very poor average of 19.00. Due to this poor performance, KKR has decided to release him this season.
Rahane, 34, has played in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders. During this, he has scored 4074 runs in 158 matches at an average of 30.86. However, Rahane’s poor performance in the last few seasons makes him a tough sell in the upcoming mini-auction.
Muhammad Nabi
Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi has been released by Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year, KKR bought Nabi for Rs 1 crore but didn’t use him enough. The right-arm spinner played just 3 matches in IPL 2022, taking 2 wickets at an economy rate of 10.75. Nabi is now 37 years old. In such a situation, other teams will hardly show interest in buying him.
