International Testing Agency selects Dora Hegyi as its ambassador for clean sports
International Testing Agency selects Dora Hegyi as its ambassador for clean sports. Dora Hegyi is the only person who can effectively encourage healthy sports activity. The Worldwide Testing Agency (ITA) has chosen the vivacious athletes’ representative for Aerobic Gymnastics to join its staff of educators, supplying education services for major event organizers and international federations.
‘It’s a dull subject, anti-doping. We want to make learning about anti-doping enjoyable,’ stated Dora. Although most athletes have heard of anti-doping, few are actually paying attention to the complications.
One of the ten international athletes given the task of figuring out how to get important information to athletes is the former Aerobic standout from Hungary.
‘I already participated in my first event, a horse-riding competition from the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) in Belgium, and it was a big struggle to speak with athletes from different disciplines,’ Dora Hegyi said.
Dora Hegyi has a variety of responsibilities, including interacting with athletes on social media and through online activities, in addition to running an information booth and leading workshops at events. Dora is a superb expert in this sector, as the athletes in the Aerobic Gymnastics community could attest.
She supported her new role by demonstrating a doping control procedure at the athletes’ meeting when Dora Hegyi was competing in the Aerobic Gymnastics World Age Group Competition in Guimaraes, Portugal. ‘The majority of the young gymnasts had never before encountered doping control. We had a good time and they enjoyed the exercise.’
‘Spreading as much knowledge as we can is important. We can only hope that the younger generations are paying more attention to our voices than they are to anti-doping literature. The struggle for clean sports may succeed in the future if we begin the education process early on and foster a relationship of trust between athletes and instructors.’
Since 2018, the FIG and ITA have collaborated. On the ITA website, information is available regarding how they collaborate to combat doping.
