Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen has reached the quarterfinal round of the Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament. The seventh-seeded player defeated Rasmus Gemke of Denmark 21-18, 21-15. Lakshya will now face Taiwan’s third seed Chou Tin Chen. Whereas, double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will face Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tanjung.
In the first round of women’s singles, Sindhu beat Denmark’s Laine Kristoffersen in a tight fight that lasted 51 minutes. Whereas, Lakshya defeated Hans Kristian Solberg Wittinghus of Denmark in 38 minutes.
Lakshya Sen won in straight games in the second round
In this second-round match, Lakshya started off well. In the first game, both the shuttlers were tied in the 4th, 9th, 12th, and 17th points. From here, the Indian player took the first game 21-18 by taking six consecutive points. In the second game, Lakshya widened the winning margin to end the score at 21-15. This match lasted 54 minutes.
Sindhu won after losing the first game
Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, did not have a good start in the first round match against Kristoffersen and suffered a loss in the first game. After that, he made a strong comeback and won the match 18-21, 21-15, 21-11.
Sameer Verma and Akarshi Kashyap lost
Another Indian player Sameer Verma in men’s singles and Akarshi Kashyap lost in women’s singles. Sameer was defeated by Beiwen Zhang of America 21-12, 21-11. At the same time, Sameer was defeated by Chico Aura Vardoyo of Indonesia 21-17, 21-15. Eventually, The loss of both players is very disappointing for Indian fans.
PV Sindhu will face a big challenge from Indonesian player Tanjung in the second round of Indonesia Masters 2022. We can enjoy a competitive match between these two players in the tournament later. Indonesia Masters is one of the biggest badminton tournaments in the world.
