India’s T20 World Cup Team for 2022
India’s T20 World Cup Team for 2022: Team India is officially out of the Asia Cup 2022. On Wednesday, Pakistan beat Afghanistan in an exhilarating game. With this win, the Men in Green will play Sri Lanka in the final match. Team India went through the group stages without losing a game but then lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka back-to-back. The losses showed how bad India was at defending targets.
Since captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid took over after the 2021 T20 World Cup in November, Team India has done an excellent job. They have won easily against New Zealand, England, and the West Indies. They couldn’t do the same thing to the Proteas, though.
Since the last World Cup, they’ve already tried out 28 players in T20Is and given some young bowlers a chance to show what they can do. Moreover, India didn’t do very well in the Asia Cup. Since they only have six more international games before the World Cup in Australia, the selection committee might have to make some tough decisions.
Before there were worries about injuries, the team was doing pretty well. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were hurt before the Asia Cup. Later, Ravindra Jadeja was hurt after the Hong Kong game. There have been rumors that Jadeja will not be able to play in the 2022 T20 World Cup because of a knee injury. This makes it even harder to choose the team.
Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid used the game against Afghanistan as their last chance to try out some new combinations since the selectors have to give the ICC a preliminary squad list by September 16.
India’s likely team for the 2022 T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshal Patel
Here’s a look at all these players –
Rohit Sharma
Rohit will be the skipper. During the Asia Cup, he looked 100% fit, and his 72 against Sri Lanka showed that he is also in good shape.
KL Rahul
Rohit’s associate will be Rahul. He has been back with the team for four months after getting injured, but he seems ready for the World Cup.
Virat Kohli
With three 30+ scores in a row in the Asia Cup, Virat has put an end to all the talk about whether or not he should play in the World Cup. And his performance against Afghanistan has just shown how amazing he is.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav is among India’s best batters currently. His recent performances, in which he scored at a strike rate of 172.75, made sure that he would be able to play in the World Cup.
Rishabh Pant
Rishabh did well against West Indies and South Africa, and in the last year, he has improved his keeping skills even more.
Hardik Pandya
The best bet for India in Australia will be Hardik Pandya. He has done very well with the bat, and in almost every game, he has also taken wickets.
Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik will find a place as a finisher who is very good at what he does. He will be used by the Indian Team in the last 4–5 overs. Karthik and Pant will clash over who gets to be the wicketkeeper.
Deepak Hooda
India’s newest batsman has been getting runs right from the start of his first game. He did well against England, and in July, he scored big runs against Ireland.
Axar Patel
Ravindra Jadeja will be replaced by Axar Patel, who will be an equivalent in terms of contribution. As a bowler, he doesn’t waste a lot of balls and can also bowl in the powerplay.
Jasprit Bumrah
India missed Jasprit Bumrah the most in the Asia Cup. However, he might lead India’s fast bowlers at the World Cup if he comes back to the team.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
India will need Bhuvneshwar to do well with the new ball. Now, he seems to be in a good groove. Against Pakistan, he took four important wickets, and against Afghanistan, he took five.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal was taken out of India’s World Cup 2021 team. However, since then, he has done everything he could to get back on the team.
Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi will be the second spinner in the front line. He can bowl in every situation, which makes him a very important part of the team.
Harsha Patel
Harshal Patel will come back after he heals from his hip injury. Team India has used him as a death bowler who can slow down the ball at the end of a game.
Arshdeep Singh
Since his first game, Arshdeep has bowled some very important overs for India. Because of how he did the last over against Pakistan and then Sri Lanka, he will likely be in the squad.
