Mitchell Starc ripped through the top order to humiliate Rohit Sharma and Co. Team India lost the second ODI in Vishakhapatnam to Australia by 10 wickets, leveling the series 1-1.
After the Australians won the toss and chose to field, Mitchell Starc went through the Indian batting order twice in a row. The hosts were bowled out for just 117 by the pacer, who took five wickets. With 39 outs remaining, Steve Smith and co. were able to chase the total without losing any batters.
The home team’s player ratings from the second one-day international against Australia are shown below.
Team India puts on a terrible batting performance, only Virat and Axar stand in the way
Rohit Sharma: 2/10
Rohit couldn’t have an effect on his re-visitation of the side. Starc did a great job of setting him up, and an outswinger got his outside edge for just 13. The Indian captain will want to quickly forget about this game.
Shubman Gill: 1/10
For the subsequent game running, Gill contacted to play a square drive off Starc, just to spoon a catch directly to in reverse point. India’s miserable fall began with a duck scored by the opener, who had been dropped in the previous game.
Suryakumar Yadav: 1/10
As yet another Starc inswinger rendered him helpless, Suryakumar only managed to stay on the field for one more pass. He has scored just seven runs in his last ten ODI innings, so it’s probably too late for him to justify his place in the team.
Virat Kohli: 6/10
Kohli was the only top-order batter who put up a fight, scoring 31 runs. He did all the hard work by playing out the new-ball spell, but he lost focus and missed a straight delivery from Nathan Ellis in the 16th over, putting his team in front.
KL Rahul: 3/10
In the first ODI, Rahul helped India come from behind, but he was unable to do so again. A deadly inswinger from Starc left him without really any possibility of aligning his bat down in time and, strolling back for nine.
Hardik Pandya: 1/10
Hardik fished at one outside off, bringing his approach to the moving ball once more into question. To send him off, Smith pulled a one-handed stunner. The all-rounder was bowled by Mitchell Marsh for three sixes in the shortest over of his career.
Ravindra Jadeja: 3/10
Jadeja batted tensely, with several leading edges getting by fielders. His unwise glide down to third man was ultimately cut short when a delivery bounced slightly higher than anticipated. The southpaw simply failed to adjust to the circumstances.
Axar Patel: 6/10
Axar continued his India unbeaten streak once more, but this time in a different format. He gave the innings a little more joy by hitting two sixes off Starc. The spinner with the left arm tried his best with the ball, but it didn’t work.
Kuldeep Yadav: 1/10
Kuldeep thought playing a draw off Sean Abbott with the Men dressed in Blue in a wide difficult situation, tracking down a defender in the circle to abandon Axar was savvy. His one and only over scored 12 runs.
Mohammad Siraj: 1/10
Siraj was the last person to be fired because he received a delivery that he had little control over. In the three overs he bowled, he gave up 37 runs and did not take a wicket in the powerplay for the first time in a while.
Mohammad Shami: 1/10
Mohammad Shami followed Kuldeep back to the pavilion and scored a first-ball duck. In his three overs, he was run out for three fours and two sixes, and in the eleventh over, he caught the ball.
