Indian women’s blind cricket team will compete in the IBSA World Games in Birmingham: The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has declared its intent to compete in the 2018 Birmingham World Games of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA).
Blind Cricket has been added to the World Games for the first time and is planned to take place from August 18–27. The men’s and women’s blind teams from India have already signed up for the competition.
In the upcoming months, the teams are anticipated to receive training in Bengaluru.
The men’s team will be revealed soon, but the CABI has already confirmed a strong 16-member women’s team that will compete in the games. Six players from each of the B1 and B3 categories as well as four players from the B2 category make up the team.
In preparation for the World Games, the women’s team recently played a five-match bilateral series against Nepal in Kathmandu.
Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, President of CABI, commented on the national team’s participation in the World Games, saying, “This is a proud moment for blind cricket has been included for the first time.” I hope that the players will put up a strong performance and make our nation proud since they will receive a lot of exposure from these games.
