Former Indian captain Virat Kohli, Current temporary Test captain Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant will not play in the first match of the three-match T20I series against England. All these players are playing in the last Test match of the India tour of England. The test match is starting on 1 July in Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham. The Test match will end on July 5 and the first T20 match will play on July 7.
Due to the small gap in both the matches, the players participating in the Test will be rested from the first T20. These players will be part of the team from the second T20 match of the series. After T20, the visitors have also been announced for the 3 ODI series.
In the Absence of Rohit, Pandya would have captained
Captain Rohit Sharma is currently suffering from COVID-19. Rohit could fit before the start of the T20 series. In case he remained unavailable, Hardik Pandya will again have the responsibility for captaincy in the first match. India led by Hardik Pandya had a 2-0 clean sweep in the two-match series in Ireland.
The good news is that Indian all-format captain Rohit Sharma will be available as captain. He will for the entire T20I series as well as the ODI series. Umran Malik also continuously got his position in the T20 team. But, he has not got a place in the ODI team.
