Indian cricket team continues to maintain 3rd ranking in ICC ODI team rankings: Recently India toured Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series. They clearly dominated the series and clean sweep the Zimbabwe team. Despite the clean sweep, India did not move up in the ODI rankings. However, India managed to maintain their third spot in the latest ICC ODI team rankings. On Tuesday, 23rd August, ICC released the latest ODI team rankings and India maintained their static 3rd ranking. India now has 111 points in the ranking after 3-0 in the series.
ICC ODI ranking scenario in the coming months
Pakistan has also been rewarded for its recent clean sweep against the Netherlands. Recently the Pakistan team was touring the Netherlands. Babur Azam was leading the side and they had a victory with 3-0. Similar to the cricket world cup super league series. They moved to 107 rating points and now stand at 4th position. While England are in the second position with 119 rating points.
India has a chance to move up in the rankings after the Asia Cup. India has a scheduled three-match ODI series with South Africa from October 6. The series will be hosted by South Africa and it is scheduled right before the T20 World Cup. Pakistan on the other hand will not have any chance before the T20 World Cup hosted in Australia this year.
New Zealand lost against the West Indies and that cost them 5 points in the rankings. However black caps will have the opportunity to lead in ODI rankings. They have a three-match ODI series against arch-rival Australia next month.
Even before they compete with Australia, England can take up their spot in the rankings. As they have series before them. Australia has 101 ranking points and they have a chance to get ahead of Pakistan in rankings. As they have back-to-back home series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand.
