Indian women and Sri Lankan women are set to play finals of the women’s Asia cup 2022 on 15 October. This match is set to be played at Sylhet international cricket stadium in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Harpreet Kaur is the skipper of the Indian team in the Women’s Asia cup 2022 while Chamari Athapaththuis is the Sri Lankan captain. Earlier Indian women outplayed Thailand women by 78 runs in the semi-Finals to enter the finals and play against the Sri Lanka women’s team.
During the league the Indian women are on top of the score table by 10 points, winning 5 out of 6 matches and losing one.
According to the latest, India women’s defeated the Sri Lanka women’s team to win the final match. The women have defeated the Lankan for the fifth time in an Asian cup. In the finals, the Indian women’s won by 8 wickets. Chasing a target of 66 runs, India Cruised to 71 runs for two in 8.3 overs.
Initially Sri Lanka women’s are crushed by the Indian bowlers, as a result, they scored 65 runs in 20 overs with Inoka Ranaweera remaining unbeaten after a score of 18 runs off 22 balls. Sri Lankan has been to finals after a long time 14 years. Team Indians entered the competition as favourites but hardly anyone thought that it was a one-sided match. The batting line declined the performance as they started to fall apart since the dismissal of their skipper. Only 2 out of ten scored in two digits, it seems that none of the Lankan batters could deal with the pressure.
They tried to give their best and also saved themselves from getting bundled out but could only post 65 runs. For India, it turns out to be an easy chase
Smriti Mandhana led the innings with the enthusiasm and scored the half-century, scoring an unbeaten 51 off 25 balls. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed 11 runs and also get not out as Indian women’s won the game by 8 wickets and 69 balls to left.
But Smriti Mandhana carried her bat and sealed the game with a six bringing the 18th half-century of her carrier in international cricket.
