INDIA vs West Indies: Iyer, Spinners Complete 4-1 Windies Rout as India Wins Final Game by 88 Runs
INDIA vs West Indies: West Indies got all out for 100 runs in 16 overs. The series was one of the most lopsided T20I bilateral series. The series came to an end. India would not be complaining having ticked most of the boxes.
Shreyas Iyer went on to form a stroke-filled 64. The Indian spinners managed to take all the 10 wickets. India recorded an 88-run victory over West Indies. The team wrapped up the five-match T20 International series by a 4-1 margin.
It was a half-century for Iyer. Deepak Hooda contributed 38 off 25 balls and stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya contributed 28 off 16 balls. These combined contributions propelled India to 188 runs for 7 in 20 overs.
Pandya gave the ball to Axar Patel (3-1-15-3). Axar quickly removed makeshift opener Jason Holder for 0, Shamarah Brooks for 13, and Devon Thomas for 10. He applied three arm balls on a track where balls stopped and gripped off the surface.

Kuldeep Yadav (4-1-12-3) caught the West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran for 3. After this, there was no way for the West Indies team to make a comeback.
The game started sliding off the hands of the West Indies team. With the passage of time, despite Shimron Hetmyer’s 56 runs off 35 balls, the WI batting line-up could not cope with the quality of Indian spinners.
Ravi Bishnoi (2.4-0-16-4) grab the opportunity to take his share of wickets.
But the day was owned by Shreyas Iyer. He was able to release the pressure on the Indian team. He, even without its regular top-order, knocked above par on a slow track.
Hardik Pandya played a nice little cameo to bring up the score in the end with 18 runs. The penultimate over was bowled by the WI bowler Jason Holder. Due to lightning that struck near the stadium, the match had to stop for 15 minutes. The halt was after 14.3 overs. By 14.3 overs, India was nicely placed at 135 for 3.
Shreyas failed in the first three games and was dropped from the fourth. But Iyer performed admirably in a position not familiar as an opener. He went on to win his little ‘battle within battle’ and shared it with Deepak Hooda. Hooda was equally impressive during his time on the crease.
The Iyer-Hooda partnership added 76 runs in 7.1 overs.
Ishan Kishan scored 11 runs off 13 balls. His run-stand failed to make an impact.
The eighth over was bowled by Odean Smith. In this over, Iyer launched into the bowler with back-to-back sixes.
Off the first delivery in the upcoming over by leg-spinner Hayden Walsh, Deepak Hooda hit an inside-out six over extra cover.
Iyer was dismissed trying to drag a low wide full-toss from Jason Holder. This move managed to offer a simple return catch.
