The third and final ODI match between India and New Zealand is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India, led by Rohit Sharma, survived Michael Bracewell’s 140 off 78 in the opening game against New Zealand to take the series lead. However, in the second game in Raipur, the Men in Blue performed admirably.
By eight wickets, the hosts won the series 2-0. India’s biggest victory in ODIs against the Kiwis in terms of the number of balls remaining in the second innings came when they reached the target in 20.1 overs. Their previous greatest victory came in 2010 when they prevailed with 179 balls remaining.
Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets and assisted India in bowling out the guests for 108 in 34.3 overs. Washington Sundar and Hardik Pandya each took two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Kuldeep Yadav each took one.
Before being bowled out for 106, New Zealand reached a total of 15-5 in 10.3 overs. For the hosts, the run chase was fairly straightforward. Before Henry Shipley dismissed Rohit Sharma, he scored 51 runs off 50 balls, and Shubman Gill remained unbeaten with 40 runs off 53 balls.
