BCCI confirmed
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Rohit Sharma and Navdeep Saini will not play the second Test. Along with this, BCCI has also released the updated squad for the second match. The rest of the players in place of Saini and Rohit remain intact in the team.
Navdeep Saini will reach NCA
Fast bowler Navdeep Saini is not fit for the second Test due to a hamstring strain. The BCCI medical team advised him not to play the Test match.
On the advice of the medical team, the management will send him to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. His fitness will be worked on at NCA.
What will be the playing 11 of the second test?
If Rohit Sharma was fit, he would have definitely played the second Test because of being the captain. A player playing the first Test in his place would have had to vacate the place.
But, BCCI has confirmed that Rohit will not play the second Test. In such a situation, Team India can enter the second test along with playing 11 of the first test.
Lokesh Rahul will captain the team. Shubman Gill will open with him. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer will be in the middle order. Rishabh Pant will do wicketkeeping. Ravichandran Ashwin, Akshar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav will be the 3 spinners of the team.
Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj will be the main fast bowlers of the team. Gill will open in Rohit’s absence. He scored a century in the first Test against Bangladesh.
Rohit was injured in the ODI series
India captain Rohit Sharma got injured during the second match of the ODI series. His thumb was injured while fielding. He had definitely batted in the match and had also scored fifty. But, after the match, he returned to Mumbai for treatment.
