India announce T20 World Cup squad
India announce T20 World Cup squad: The All-India Senior Selection Committee met on Monday to decide India’s squads for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia and for the T20I series against Australia and South Africa at home, with Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel returning from an injury layoff named in India’s 15-man squad.
Mohammad Shami has been named to the reserve list of players for India’s upcoming international tour, along with Bumrah and Harshal. The BCCI medical team has ruled Bumrah and Harshal as fit after a rigorous rehabilitation programme. India will play their first match against Pakistan on October 23.
The India cricket team for the ICC T20 World Cup includes Rohit Sharma (Captain)
KL Rahul (vice-captain)
Virat Kohli
Suryakumar Yadav
Deepak Hooda
Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper)
Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper)
Hardik Pandya
R. Ashwin
Yuzvendra Chahal
Axar Patel
Jasprit Bumrah
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Harshal Patel
Arshdeep Singh.
India’s main hope in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia is Hardik Pandya. This player will be treated with care at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore when his teammates face off against Australia and South Africa. The concern of what if this player gets injured is just too risky to consider. The rest of India’s little known T20 World Cup squad has no secrets; just reactions to early experimental phases which have unsurprisingly generated more questions than answers.
The last year has been a trying time for Indian cricket. Despite winning the test series against England this summer, Indians striker on even ground. The batting feels sluggish and the bowling is that of dominance. It was close with Pakistan in both T20Is and ODIs.
India squad list for South Africa in the T20Is:
Rohit Sharma (Captain)
KL Rahul (vice-captain)
Virat Kohli
Suryakumar Yadav
Deepak Hooda
Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper)
Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper)
R. Ashwin
Yuzvendra Chahal
Axar Patel
Arshdeep Singh
Mohd. Shami
Harshal Patel
Deepak Chahar
Jasprit Bumrah.
For the Australian T20 series, India is fielding an all-star team with Rohit Sharma as captain, KL Rahul vice-captain, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel. They have some strong batsmen like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with Dinesh Karthik in wicket-keeping duties. The bowling department is full of experienced experts with international players like R. Ashwin, Mohd. Shami and Harshal Patel on fire as well as Jasprit Bumrah to back them up.
It was revealed by Mohammed Azharuddin that when the All-India Senior Selection Committee paired players in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia, Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami were missing from the main list.
With the announcement of India’s squad for the World Cup, Mohammed Shami and Sanju Samson appeared to be trending on Twitter almost immediately.
K Srikkanth, who was an India cricket captain said “If I was the chairman of the selection committee, Shami is definitely in my team” due to Shami’s versatility in international matches and his ability to take early wickets. With this, he would have replaced Harshal Patel. He also says that Harshal is a good bowler with no doubt but Mohammad Shami has done well during the IPL recently which is why he would make it into the final 30-man squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The main hope of Indian cricket team, Hardik Pandya takes on Australia in the T20 Cricket World Cup. He will mainly spend time at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore before and during the tournament. Instead of worrying about what if he gets injured, it would be smarter to think about what he could do if he does get injured.
