IND vs ZIM 3rd ODI: India Held Their Nerve Till The End To Win The Game – Regis Chakabva
IND vs ZIM 3rd ODI: India Held Their Nerve Till The End To Win The Game: The Harare Sports Club on the 22nd of August 2022 saw Shubman Gill’s first ODI century. His century led India to defeat Zimbabwe by a score of 289 for 8.
Gill’s century was the highest individual One Day Internationals score by an Indian in Zimbabwe. Gill’s 97-ball 130 contained 15 fours and a six.
Shubham Gill collaborated with Ishan Kishan, who scored 50 runs, on a 140-run third-wicket stand. Together the duo helped India post a challenging total.
For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans (5-54) was the bowler who stood out. Evans recorded his first five-wicket haul in the 3rd ODI against India.
Evans ended up with his first ODI five-for while he gave in only seven more runs.
Shikhar Dhawan earlier started off with boundaries. He went flicking in the first few overs. KL Rahul won the toss and decided to go for batting first in the 3rd ODI. Rahul got off to a slow start and took some time to make his foundation in the match.
The Zimbabwean bowlers showed inconsistency in the beginning. But soon the bowlers quickly tightened up managing to contain the openers. Nyauchi bowled a maiden to Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan went on to receive a break when Richard Ngarava put him down.
Even after Sikandar Raza’s century, the Zimbabwean team fell short by 13 runs and lost the match.
After losing the series 3-0, Regis Chakabva commented, “Firstly congratulations to India, I thought they played well. India held their nerves even though Sikandar and Evans gave us the chance. Huge positives today from the bowling. The boys fought really hard on the field. We talk about coming back from tough situations and Raza was brilliant. We definitely take a lot of positives and look at those things down under.”
