In the third T20I between Australia and West Indies, Sherfane Rutherford smashes a six. The West Indies top order struggled to get runs as left-arm seamer Jason Behrendorff dismissed Nicholas Pooran for a single and rookie Xavier Bartlett edged out Kyle Mayers and Johnson Charles in the powerplay. Before Adam Zampa outwitted him with a wrong’un for 37 off 20 deliveries, Roston Chase gave some momentum.
The visiting captain was overcome by all-rounder Aaron Hardie for 21 runs, but West Indies didn’t back down. Almost no Australian bowler was spared by Andre Russell and Rutherford, who freely talked them all over the field. Russell needed 25 deliveries to get his first T20I half-century, whilst Rutherford needed 33.
Zampa, who had previously benched Chase, had the highest-paying stats for an Australian in Twenty20 Internationals. The leggie finished with stats of 4-0-65-1, having given up 28 runs off the 19th over. The ODI leg was easily won by Australia, while the two-Test series ended in a tie.
In the third T20I between Australia and West Indies, Sherfane Rutherford smashes a six
At the third and final Twenty20 International between Australia and the West Indies in Perth on Tuesday, Sherfane Rutherford hit a hook shot for a maximum over fine leg, and a spectator in the crowd casually took a one-handed catch. The man accepted the catch coolly, even though he had a drink in his other hand.
The event happened in the 16th over of the innings, which was delivered by Spencer Johnson, a left-arm seamer. With ease, the South Australian sent the ball past the fine-leg boundary and onto the southpaw’s body. The man who made the catch immediately attracted attention as the corresponding video went viral on social media.
West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to bat first in an attempt to salvage a victory, unlike in the previous two Twenty20 Internationals. Since Australia was more disciplined in all areas of the first two matches, the tourists had already given up the three-match series.
