Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar record: – Virat Kohli has once again done wonders. By scoring 76 runs off 82 balls in the second innings of the Centurion Test against South Africa, Virat overtook Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most runs by an Indian batsman across all formats in South Africa.
On Thursday, 28 December, India lost to the Proteas by an innings and 32 runs at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. South Africa scored 408 runs in its first innings and took a strong lead of 163 runs, but India was all out for 131 runs in 31.4 overs in the second innings.
In the second innings, Kohli was the lone batsman for the visitors, hitting 12 fours and a six in his fluid stroke play.
During this inning, he also left Tendulkar behind in the record of Indian batsmen scoring the most runs in South African international cricket.
After 35 innings, the 35-year-old has 1786 runs for South Africa across all formats at an average of 57.61, including five centuries and nine fifties.
Tendulkar has scored 1724 runs in 51 innings at an average of 35.91, which includes six centuries and four fifties.

Of the 1786 runs Kohli has scored, 833 have been scored in 16 innings of Test matches at an average of 52.06, which includes two centuries and four fifties.
Kohli has scored 898 runs in 16 ODI innings at an average of 74.83, which includes three centuries and five half-centuries. He has scored 55 runs in three innings in T20I at a strike rate of 125.
Indian hitters’ most runs in South Africa
Head coach Rahul Dravid is currently the third-highest run-scorer among Indian batsmen across all formats in South Africa, behind only Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
With one century and nine fifties, he scored 1136 runs in 33 innings at an average of 36.64.
Behind Dravid are former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly (897 runs in 25 innings) and MS Dhoni (872 runs in 34 innings).
Kohli (8790) also overtook VVS Laxman (8781) in his second innings effort at Centurion to become India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in Test cricket.
