West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell made a superb return catch to eliminate England’s Rehan Ahmed in the T20I series decider at Tarouba’s Brian Lara Stadium on Friday.
Russell, who made his international debut in the five-match series against England, played a significant part in West Indies’ 3-2 victory. He was 2-25 from four overs as the hosts limited Jos Buttler and company to 132 runs in the first innings.

Both of his wickets came in the last over of the innings, in which he only gave up four runs. Russell delivered a low full toss, coming around the wicket, to the new batsman at the crease, Rehan Ahmed, after removing Chris Woakes to start the over. The child attempted to connect to a slug but was unsuccessful.
Russell gripped the ball on his followthrough, holding it close to his body while collapsing onto the pitch and completing the catch. He looked to have damaged his finger at first, but shrugged it off to finish his spell.
Andre Russell finished the five-match T20I series against England with 105 runs and seven wickets
Andre Russell made his first international appearance since the United Arab Emirates (UAE) T20 World Cup in 2021. He has voiced a desire to participate in the 2024 T20 World Cup on home soil as well, with the England series serving as an excellent springboard.
The all-rounder made an impressive return, hitting 29 runs in 29 balls and taking three wickets to be named Player of the Match in the first T20I. While he did surrender 66 runs in the second game, he responded with a fifty in the series’ fourth match.
