IIHF Tournament 2022: Wild weekend ahead for IIHF Games. With the qualification phase getting over, the final 36 champions are setting forward to group stage competitions. Now, there will be group stage games at the 2022 IIHF eWorld Championship.
A total of 18 countries were divided into four groups to move ahead to the quarter-finals. Two champions from every nation will be participating in the Playstation or Xbox division on the NHL 22™ game.
IIHF worlds Championship Group Stages
The IIHF launched the Esports Fan Championship pilot project in 2020. The objective was to boost the sense of commitment and popularity of esports. Now after two years, the world ice hockey federation has opened the doors to the all-new IIHF eWorld Championship.
A total of 22 nations were invited to the championships. Out of which, 18 have managed to move to the group stages. Since four teams weren’t having the complete team on both Xbox and Playstation, they weren’t able to move forward to the group stages. Let’s explore the group division for IIHF eWorld’s Championship below –
Group A: Defending champions feature 2020 MVP
It will begin on Sunday with teams like Germany, Finland, Poland, Hungary, and Denmark. The 2020 champions will be looking forward to competing and winning the games. They are also featuring one of the best NHL™ 22 players in the world, Erik ‘ENCEKI’ Tammenpää. Poland, Denmark, and Hungary have been the outsiders and each one of them would be trying to make the maximum impact on the entire championship.
Group B: Canada returns with a new crew
Group B will open on Saturday with teams like Canada, Latvia, Slovakia, and Great Britain. The Canadians are going to enter the team with two of the crucial picks. Latvia will bring the same old duo again, with Sean ‘Sean’ McIntosh making a return to the Great Britain team.
Group C: US team seeks redemption
Group C kicks off on Sunday by featuring teams like the USA, Switzerland, France, and Ukraine. The USA team will be planning to retaliate after a previous defeat from Canada. They would look forward to reaching the quarter-finals this time.
Group D: Japan and Austria debut
Group D will begin on Saturday with teams like Sweden, Czechia, Austria, Japan, and Kazakhstan. There will be an initial preliminary round between Sweden and Czechia. Meanwhile, the other nations would be hoping to trip both major hockey nations up. Sweden had been the 2020 runner-up and will rely on their strong team. Czechia and other nations will be countering with their best player forward.
