It was Alize Cornet’s first complete watch win over world no. 1 since 2014. In 2014 she defeated Serena by 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 and advanced her to the 1st round of 16 at Wimbledon.

Cornet says ” It reminds me of the time I defeated Serena on the same court 8 years ago. I think this court is my lucky charm.” She also started these are the type of matches she lives for and practices every date. She had the belief she would win and that’s what helped her.
Iga after dropping the first set in the match took a 2-0 lead in the second set, but Alize responded with 6 straight games and made a remarkable run.
The 21-year-old two-grand slam champion, Iga Swiatek has the longest winning streak that Alize broke. Initially, Venus Williams had the longest 35-match winning streak in 2000.
Swiatek looked unbeatable on the court this year, but Iga has always been open about her learning on the grass court. In the second round, she had to work hard to beat Lesley Pattinama Kerkhovr with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 set. She is yet to defeat the top 50 on the grass court.
