According to reports, Real Madrid has chosen Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, who has been linked to Barcelona, over Borussia Dortmund teenager Jude Bellingham as a second option.
Since signing for the Cityzens in 2017 for €50 million from AS Monaco, Silva, 28, has been an essential first-team starter.
So far, he has assisted them in winning 11 awards, including four Premier League titles. The 78-cap Portugal star, a left-footed playmaker known for his passing and flair, has been rumored to be leaving Pep Guardiola’s team since last summer.
Barcelona was quick to eat him up in front of the continuous 2022-23 season, yet neglected to sign him because of monetary limitations. After facilitating the departures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, ESPN claims that Real Madrid is interested in bringing Silva into their ranks.
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Los Blancos, has a lot of respect for the Portuguese midfielder because of how technically he plays and how versatile he is offensive. The transfer price for Silva, who will remain at the Etihad Stadium until June 2025, is over €80 million, which is the same as the previous summer.
Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde would form a midfield trio with the Benfica youth product if he joined the La Liga champions. If necessary, he could also play as a right inside forward and a false nine.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s recent presence has dealt a blow to Real Madrid’s pursuit of Bellingham. The BVB hero, whose value is estimated to be around €120 million, is also up for grabs by Liverpool.

El Nacional reports that Jorge Mendes, the agent of Joao Cancelo, a Manchester City defender currently on loan, and Barcelona President Juan Laporta met. The player’s preference to join a team where he could be an undisputed starter supports Blaugrana’s potential pursuit.
After losing favor with Pep Guardiola, Cancelo, 28, secured a short-term loan switch to Bayern Munich last month. He has made nine appearances since joining the Bundesliga team and has contributed four assists. Following Hector Bellerin’s January transfer to Sporting CP for €1 million, Barcelona is looking for a right-back.
Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto have both been utilized in the job this season, yet Xavi’s side could do with a far-and-away right-back. According to the aforementioned report, Real Madrid is also interested in signing the Portuguese wingback as a potential replacement for Dani Carvajal.
