ICC will be biding the streaming rights for the Indian Premier League for the next 8 years soon. They are going to bid the right this June. The event of the IPL rights auction hosts on June 12, 2022. Check ICC to Allow Combined Bid For Digital Rights.
The presentation is given to all the clients and potential future clients by Sunil Manoharan, The vice-president of ICC along with Anurag Dahia a chief commercial officer at the Dubai office of the world body.
The views of Disney+Hotstar, Sony Pictures Network, and Network 18, are elicited by the other two officials of ICC.
An official present in the meeting states, “They seem to be more interested in four-year deals but the bidders will be given the choice to opt for eight years too. They have their processes on how to calculate the appreciation for eight years.”
ICC to Allow Combined Bid For Digital Rights
The digital and the television rights for the league will be sold combined where it is an Indian package. With a single bid, the rights for both TV and digital will be sold. There are going to be two packages and there will be two separate bids for TV and Digital rights.
The current value for the IPl streaming rights is USD 1.9 billion for 8 years. However, the value is said to be increasing as the competition is increasing globally.
There are also concerns by the broadcasters in India about the timings fr the 2024 Twenty20 World Cup. It is going to be West Indies and the US where the time zones for India are different.
However, ICC tells Indian parties that all the games are going to be according to the Indian prime time.
The Champions Trophy 2025 will be taking place in Pakistan. India is not sure to take part in the event due to tensions in both countries.
