Indian cricket team has suffered another major setback after the defeat in the fifth test against the host England. Former all-format captain Virat Kohli has now dropped out of the top 10 in Test cricket rankings after 6 years. The new ranking of Virat Kohli in Tests is 13. He has lost four places down this time. Kohli scored his last ton in a Test match on November 23, 2019. After this Virat has not scored a single century in all three formats of cricket.
Due to this, he has scored just 872 runs in 18 Test matches at an average of 27.25. Kohli is now not even in the top 30 in the list of batsmen, who have scored the most Test runs in the world during this period. Indian legend is at number 34 on this list.
Virat also failed to score in the Test series against England
Virat scored just 249 runs from his bat in all 5 Test matches in the recently concluded Test series against England. He scored with a poor average of 27.66. Meanwhile, the Good news is that Rishabh Pant, who made a splash with his bat in the last Test against England, has gained in the rankings. Rishabh Pant has reached the top-5 with a jump of 5 points.
Kohli is looking unable to score runs as a player too
Looking at his record, it becomes clear that his best as a batsman came out only when he was the captain of the team. As a captain, Virat scored 5864 runs in 113 innings of 68 Tests at an average of 54.80. On the other hand, as the only team member, he has played 34 Tests so far and has scored just 2210 runs to take 60 innings at an average of 39.46.
