Pakistan’s fortunes reversed
Babar’s team reached the knockout after defeating Bangladesh and benefited from the defeat of South Africa. The 2009 champions Pakistan has reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. On Sunday, they defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in a low-scoring match do-or-die.
At one point the Pakistan team was on the verge of being out of the tournament. But, when the Netherlands defeated South Africa on Sunday, Pakistan’s fortunes turned. The Netherlands’ win gave Babar’s team another chance. While defeating Bangladesh, Pakistan also cashed it well.
2 semifinalists turned out on the last day
There were 3 matches in Group 2 on Sunday. In the first match, the Netherlands beat South Africa by 13 runs. With the result of this match, South Africa was out of the race for the semi-finals and India reached the semi-finals. The second match took place between Pakistan and Bangladesh. It was a knockout match. That is, whichever team wins it will reach the last 4. Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the match to enter the semi-finals.
The last match of the day was between India and Zimbabwe. By winning this match, India reached first place in Group 2 of the Super-12 stage. Pakistan remained at number two. Now the first semi-final between New Zealand and Pakistan will be held in Sydney on 9 November. The second semi-final between India and England will be played in Adelaide on November 10. The final will take place on 13 November at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
