The 8th of December, Aizawl (Mizoram), India: The I-League 2022–23’s sixth round matchup will take place on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl, Mizoram, between Aizawl FC and NEROCA FC. Just one point was gained by Aizawl in their previous two games. Henry Kisekka’s equaliser in the game’s closing period helped them hold off Churchill Brothers for a draw.
The People’s Club will take the field once more in front of their home crowd hoping to replicate their heroic efforts from their last home victory over Sudeva Delhi. NEROCA FC, meanwhile, will concentrate on recovering from their defeat to Rajasthan United in the fifth round. The two have squared off against one another seven times, with two victories apiece for Aizawl and NEROCA.
However, Aizawl has won their past two matches by scores of 2-1 and 2-0, continuing a recent winning trend. Aizawl FC assistant coach Victor Lalbiakmawia discussed his team’s recent game during the pre-game news conference. We had a poor first half, he remarked. We chased the game for the opening 45 minutes.
After the adjustments made at halftime, I believe we had control of the game, generated opportunities, and were ultimately capable of winning. Therefore, after reviewing how we played in the last game, I believe that how we start the game tomorrow will be crucial. Then Lalbiakmawia discussed the competitors and his game plan.
“NEROCA is a talented young team. They have participated in the I-League for a long time. The match will be won by whomever exerts more effort and gets the game going in a favourable manner. Tomorrow, we’ll enter the game looking for three points,” he stated. K. Lalrinfela, better known by his nickname Mafela, scored a crucial goal against TRAU in round one to earn his side a point.
The forward believes he can perform better despite having a respectable season so far. Mafela said, “I feel like I need to work harder right now so I can play quality football on the field. Aizawl FC are a very excellent team, according to NEROCA FC head coach Khogen Singh. We are a new squad, thus we have a different strategy for away games. The game tomorrow will be thrilling as we aim for three points.
The head coach claims that his team’s lack of experience is the cause of their inability to score many goals. In every game, we aim to compete and generate opportunities. We have a collection of inexperienced young players. They are getting better each game, and they will soon start scoring goals. said Khogen.
Goalkeeper Soram Poirei, who started the club’s first three games and contributed to keeping a key clean sheet against Sudeva Delhi, thought about the difficulties the locker room was facing. “Most of us come from different nations and cultures. We had trouble communicating at first, but now that everyone is beginning to understand one another, our relationship is stronger, he added. (ANI)
