When Prithvi Shaw starts working for Northamptonshire, he’ll be searching for a fresh start. Shaw’s goal in the UK is to amass runs in an effort to rejoin the national team.
The youthful player, though, is anticipated to encounter several challenges on the English wickets that seam, since his mechanical shortcomings against approaching deliveries have drawn criticism.
Shaw was recently questioned by Cricbuzz if he needed to make any technical changes to his game. The right-handed batsman responded that further changes are not possible.
“Shaw said, I don’t think now will be the proper moment to make any changes to my game. I have already made any necessary improvements to my game. I only need to play my natural game once I arrive and fix my gaze on that area.”
“He said, I’ve been going there ever since I was twelve. I completed six months of formal education in Manchester. I enjoy the people and the country there. They are really lovely; I enjoy hanging around there. I have the chance to visit and express myself there.”
Furthermore, Prithvi Shaw claimed that because he has been playing in England since he was a little boy, he is familiar with the country’s conditions. Shaw, who chose to participate in the County Championship rather than the Deodhar Trophy, is optimistic about the outcome.
Since I was a little child, I have visited England. We had played there before the 2018 Under-19 World Cup as well, he said. “I played a lot of games with India A after that. I am therefore familiar with the terrain and playing environments. I had also amassed a considerable number of runs for India A.
For me, this is a new team. I’m not familiar with their culture. To adjust to that can take some time. They have been quite friendly to me since I’ve been in contact with them. Therefore, I’m hoping for a positive encounter, Shaw continued.
For the remainder of the County Championship, the 23-year-old will play for Northamptonshire. He will also participate in the August-starting Royal London One-Day Cup.
Regarding his goals from the County Championship, Prithvi Shaw stated “Just want to take it as any other game”
Since playing youth cricket, Prithvi Shaw has been recognised as a prodigal talent. He received quick access to the Indian team. On his Test debut, Shaw got a century, but the next few years have been difficult for him. The right-handed hitter has struggled to score runs and has become embroiled in squabbles off the pitch.
During his future stay in England, the young player hopes to put all of it behind him and focus on one game at a time.
Shaw said when asked what he anticipated getting out of his time in County:
“All I want to do is treat it like any other game. It resembles the elite games we engage in here. Just a different experience, nothing major. It means a lot to receive an invitation from them. The situation is the same; I must go there and help the team by scoring runs since that is what they anticipate from me. They have obviously watched me perform since they have called me there. They might have something in mind that they believe I am capable of. I anticipate having a nice time.”
As of right now, Prithvi Shaw has played 44 first-class matches and amassed 3802 runs at an average of 50.02 thanks to 12 hundreds and 16 fifty-sevens.7
