Both teams would be hoping to prevail in the shortest format following an entertaining ODI series that ended 1-1. At the T20 World Cup in Australia last year, South Africa and the West Indies also didn’t do well. The West Indies were unable to advance to the Super 12 stage, while the Proteas were betrayed by the Netherlands.
As a result, both teams would like to get ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup and hope for better results. Aiden Markram has taken over as T20I captain from Temba Bavuma. David Miller is also hoping to make an impression for the Proteas, and as usual, Quinton de Kock will be expected to play a significant part.
Heinrich Klaasen, who scored a ferocious century in the third ODI against the West Indies, could join Rilee Rossouw and Tristan Stubbs in the middle order. Rovman Powell, on the other hand, will lead the West Indies. The team also includes Nicholas Pooran, a former captain, and it is anticipated that the two will carry out the majority of the middle order’s work.
Brandon Lord and bad habit commander Kyle Mayers add further capability to the batting unit. Alzarri Joseph, along with Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, and Sheldon Cottrell, may hold the key in the bowling department. Yannic Cariah, a surprise inclusion at the T20 World Cup, has also been kept in the team, with Akeal Hosein serving as the other specialist spinner.
The first Twenty20 International is scheduled for March 25. The second and third games are scheduled for March 26 and March 28.
