On Sunday, May 7, in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023), SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by four wickets in a high-scoring thriller at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rajasthan won the throw and chose to bat first. The RR batters put on a good show, with opener Jos Buttler coming back to form with a great 95-run outing.
With the bat, skipper Sanju Samson also excelled, remaining unbeaten on 66 from 38 deliveries. After 20 overs, RR was at 212/2. Abhishek Sharma, Hyderabad’s opening batter, contributed by hitting a fine half-century and scoring 55 runs at the top. With their quick runs, the batsmen Rahul Tripathi (47), Anmolpreet Singh (33), Heinrich Klaasen (26), and Glenn Phillips (25) also played a significant role.
After SRH needed 17 runs to win in the final over, the match came to a dramatic end. When it came down to four off one ball, Abul Samand hit a fantastic six down the field to win the game for his team. For RR, Yuzvendra Chahal was the best bowler, taking four wickets and only allowing 29 runs in four overs.
