According to Bild, Arsenal are very keen to sign Julian Brandt this summer. The German attacking midfielder has been linked to the Premier League for a long time, and now, the Gunners are supposedly ready to pull the trigger and bring him to north London.
Brandt has been brilliant for Dortmund for a number of years now, but don’t just take our word for it. Indeed, Chelsea’s Kai Havertz has previously hailed Brandt for his performances at Dortmund, stating back in 2020 that Brandt was Dortmund’s best player ahead of the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.
Manchester City star Erling Haaland said that Arsenal have been the best team in the Premier League so far this season following his side’s 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.
A cagey start in the opening 20 minutes was brought to an abrupt end in the 24th minute as a misplaced pass by Takehiro Tomiyasu was latched onto by Kevin De Bruyne who did excellently to then lift the ball over Aaron Ramsdale to give his side the lead. City looked as though they would go into the break in front but those hopes were dashed when Ederson conceded a penalty for a foul on Eddie Nketiah.
After a substantial wait, Bukayo Saka sent the Brazilian the wrong way to bring the Gunners level. The game’s flow was stunted in the second half due to fouls but City had their advantage back through Jack Grealish in the 72nd minute.
BRANDT PRAISED BY HAVERTZ
Kai Havertz spoke highly of Brandt to Kicker in 2020.
“I wrote to him (Brandt) on Tuesday after the game. (Jadon) Sancho and (Erling) Haaland aren’t playing too badly either, but at the moment he’s the best player at (Borussia) Dortmund,” Havertz said.
COULD BE BRILLIANT
Of course, Havertz was being a bit hyperbolic when speaking about Brandt due to the fact these two are great friends, but the fact that Brandt is even being spoken about in these terms goes to show how brilliant he can be.
Brandt has been proving himself as one of the better players in Germany over the past few years, and now, he could be allowed to bring his talents to the Premier League with Arsenal.
Unfortunately for the Gunners, Spurs have also been credited with an interest in Brandt, but given Arsenal’s relative position compared to Tottenham, you’d have to make them favourites in this transfer race.
