Alyssa Healy says she will be a different kind of leader than Meg Lanning and is eager to captain Australia in the high-profile T20I series in India. In the T20I series against India, Healy will lead the Australian women’s team for the eighth time, with permanent captain Meg Lanning continuing her extended absence from the sport.
Healy, who was most recently named the team’s vice-captain following Rachael Haynes’ retirement, will take over as captain in Lanning’s absence.The wicketkeeper-batter, though, is excited about the assignment and notes that her style of team leadership will differ from Lanning’s. Before the first T20I in Mumbai, Healy said, “The lines are incredibly foggy.
there’s a little to it, but it’s an exciting one, and I feel I’ve been given the liberty to make it my and make it my job.” Healy provided an update on Lanning’s future as well, stating that “We’re not 100% positive on what the future holds for Meg,” adding that “she’ll make some decisions in her own time and she’s granted that chance.”

“Right now, it’s about me putting my own spin on that job and making sure that I’m doing the best I possibly can for this group to sustain the success that we’ve had,” she continued. I have a totally different personality than Meg and am a very different kind of leader. Healy realised that she liked taking on challenging assignments and was keen to lead the team in Mumbai.
The speaker stated, “It’s not an easy career, but it’s tough, and I love succeeding in those high-pressure situations.” As both teams step up their preparations for the T20 World Cup in South Africa at the beginning of 2023, the five-match T20I series will be crucial.
The games will be held at the D.Y. between December 9 and December 20. Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
