Justin Langer is an Australian cricket coach and former player. He was the previous coach of Australia’s men’s national team, having been hired in May 2018.
And departing in February 2022, before becoming the coach of Lucknow Super Giants, an IPL club, in July 2023.
Langer, a left-handed batsman, is most known for his combination with Matthew Hayden as Australia’s test openers in the early and mid-2000s.
Langer believes Bancroft has done all needed of him to be a member of the Australian Test team.
Cricket Australia (CA) has named a 13-man Test squad for the series against the West Indies, which will begin on January 17 at the Adelaide Oval.
However, the selectors have reinstated Matt Renshaw in the lineup. With Steve Smith slated to open despite Bancroft’s good domestic record.
Langer said in The West Australian that Bancroft’s lack of selection is surprising.
The 31-year-old, who played a significant role in the 2018 ball-tampering controversy. He was one of the top run scorer in both previous Sheffield Shield seasons.
In 146 first-class matches, Bancroft has scored 9,449 runs at an average of 39.04.

Langer went on to explain that Bancroft has worked on all of his prior shortcomings.
While Smith has been one of the best Test batsmen of his generation. it remains to be seen how he performs as the opener.
