He needs the practice to return to form: Sourav Ganguly ‘very hopeful’ of a Virat Kohli century in Asia Cup 2022
He Needs The Practice To Return To Form: Sourav Ganguly, who captained India in the past, is certain that current Indian captain Virat Kohli would rediscover his form during the next Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In recent times, Kohli has been going through a hard patch, as evidenced by his inability to score runs on any level. The fact that he hasn’t reached the century mark in any of his games since the Day-Night Test against Bangladesh in November 2019 has increased the amount of pressure on him.
Since India’s trip to England, Kohli has not participated in any other cricket matches. The seasoned player did not take part in the bilateral series that was played in the West Indies, and he also will not be participating in the next ODIs that will be played in Zimbabwe.
One of India’s most successful leaders, Ganguly, commented that given Kohli’s status as a major player, it’s only a matter of time before he finds his groove.
“Allow him to participate in practices and competitions. He is a formidable player who has racked up a significant number of runs. I have high hopes that he will stage a successful comeback. Ganguly was cited as saying in an interview with India Today that he believes the player will rediscover his form during the Asia Cup. Ganguly was asked about the player’s inability to reach a century.
Score
Over the course of the Asia Cup, Kohli has posted the greatest individual score ever recorded in the competition’s annals, giving him an impressive batting average of over 60. At the Dubai International Stadium, India is expected to kick off their campaign on August 28 against the Pakistan team captained by Babar Azam.
Ganguly, who is the current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has dismissed rumors that he may run for the presidency of the International Cricket Council in the future. Ganguly was responding to speculation regarding his potential candidacy for the position (ICC).
“As you can see, all of these are just speculations. These are not correct in any way. This does not take place immediately. All of these things are in the control of the BCCI and the government,” Ganguly said further.
