Pragyan Ojha discusses Jitesh Sharma’s daring attitude
Pragyan Ojha is a former Indian cricketer who played for India, he was an aggressive slow left arm orthodox spinner and left-handed tail-ender batsman for Hyderabad.
He is one of just a handful Test cricketers who have taken more wickets than runs. He began playing for the Saheed Sporting Club in junior events for the club and city.
Four years later, he relocated to Hyderabad to further his studies and selected cricket as his vocation under the tutelage of his coach, T. Vijay Paul.
He believes Jitesh Sharma is taking the same daring attitude to white-ball cricket that Rohit Sharma does.
Jitesh blasted a 20-ball 31 in India’s six-wicket victory against Afghanistan in the inaugural Twenty20 International at Mohali.
He was removed for a duck as the Men in Blue won by the same score in their second encounter in Indore on Sunday, January 14.
During a conversation on Colors Cineplex, veteran Indian spinner Ojha was asked what distinguishes Jitesh from other wicketkeepers.
Jitesh has scored 100 runs at an outstanding strike rate of 147.05 in seven T20I innings. However, his average is 14.28, with a high of 35.
“He is a weapon in T20 cricket” – Suresh Raina on Jitesh Sharma
However, the former India all-rounder challenged Vidarbha’s wicketkeeper-batsman to turn his beginnings into huge runs.
Raina emphasized Jitesh’s great strike rate and game-reading ability. He also stated that the 30-year-old would become more crucial to the Men in Blue if he begins to complete matches.
For the record, Jitesh has yet to be out in any of his innings for India.
