He is batting incredibly well: Shane Watson picks Suryakumar Yadav in his top 5 T20I players
He is batting incredibly well: Shane Watson, a former cricketer for Australia, has ranked Suryakumar Yadav, an Indian batsman, as one of the best five T20 players in the world.
Watson, regarded as one of Australia’s all-time greatest white-ball players, has lately transitioned into the coach role to foster the development of up-and-coming players worldwide.
The Delhi Capitals assistant coach, who is 41 years old, put on his coaching hat to select the top Twenty20 International players in front of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, which will take place in Australia later this year.
Watson chose Suryakumar as his second player pick out of the whole pool of five players. When he was interviewed for the ICC Review, the Australian said, “He (Suryakumar) is batting incredibly well, and he would be my No. 2 pick.” He also stated that he “would not be surprised” if “KL Rahul explodes in the T20 World Cup in Australia because he’s got the game to dominate in these conditions in Australia.”
The Twenty20 World Cup 2022 is set to take place between the 16th of October and the 13th of November, and the championship match is slated to take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). In the most recent iteration of the tournament, India was eliminated in the group stage, and Virat Kohli and his team could not go further than that point.
In addition, Watson selected two players from Pakistan, naming Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi as his number one and number five picks, respectively. The Australian said, about Babar, “First one I’d pick would be Babar Azam. He is the best Twenty20 International batsman in the world and knows how to dominate the competition.
Statements
“It’s as if he’s not even taking any chances, yet he scores swiftly even while competing against the world’s finest bowlers. His technique is very much built for Australian circumstances, so he is going to do very well in Australian conditions (at the T20 World Cup), as well.
Watson observed Shaheen Afridi, who cannot participate in the Asia Cup due to a knee injury: “His ability to take wickets is truly something special.” We saw him use that fresh new ball to great effect in the most recent men’s Twenty20 World Cup, where he dismissed some of the top batters.
I’d be extremely astonished if he didn’t really dominate the game under Australian conditions, with the ball swinging all over the place and the wickets being both fast and bouncy. My one and only minor fear with him is that he has the potential to lose his momentum a little bit if he does not take wickets right away. On the other hand, I do not doubt that he has been working on that. I would be quite astonished if he did not take the lead in this.”
T20
David Warner, a fellow Australian and Watson’s countryman, was named the T20 World Cup 2021’s Player of the Tournament, and Watson chose him as his next option. He has contributed significantly to the total runs scored by the Delhi Capitals (in the IPL). Watson added, “He’s going to have plenty of fire in his gut to make his mark in a T20 World Cup at home, so he’s going to be ready to go.” “He will have plenty of fire in his belly to make his mark in a T20 World Cup at home.”
The former cricket player also included Jos Buttler, the new white-ball captain of England, in his list of the top five T20I players. He predicted that Buttler would “dominate” at the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022.
During the Indian Premier League, no one could get him out of the game, at least most of the time. In the history of the Indian Premier League, only one player has ever scored four hundred: Virat Kohli (in 2016).
“In Twenty20 cricket, getting him out is almost impossible when he’s in form and has been in form. He can hit the ball anywhere he wants, even off the bowling of the world’s finest players. When I played with him at the Sydney Thunder a few years ago, he did pretty well in the Big Bash. He is quite familiar with the conditions in Australia. He has participated in the Big Bash and did very well in it.
