Wasim Jaffer’s, a former cricketer, thinks that Tilak Varma, a young Indian batter. Can contribute to the Indian side in the T20I format because of the versatility he provides. Jaffer claims that Varma has the ability to bat anywhere from number four to number seven and can also complete games.
On Thursday, August 3, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, in the first T20I match between India and West Indies. Trinidad, the 20-year-old Varma is expected to make his international debut.
After making his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) last year, Varma has been one of the team’s shining stars. He has scored 740 runs in 25 games with an average of 38.95 and a strike rate of 144.53, totaling 740 runs.
Jaffer expressed his excitement for Varma in advance of the T20I series to ESPNcricinfo
“Tilak Varma is an adaptable person, and that’s a wonderful thing. He can bat anywhere from number four to number seven. He also has finishing ability. He has performed that for the Mumbai Indians before. This adaptability is brought by Tilak Varma, he remarked.
Jaffer continued, “Varma’s bowling can also be helpful because India hasn’t recently produced top-order batters who can bowl a little.”
If necessary, he can bowl off-spin as well. India needs a top-order batsman who can bowl a few overs, the 45-year-old said, “so that we can have that sixth over, seventh bowling option.”
Varma has participated in 47 T20 matches overall, scoring 1418 runs with an average of 37.31 and a strike rate of 142.51.
“Waiting for him to perform like he did in the IPL” Yashasvi Jaiswal: Wasim Jaffer’s
On Thursday, in addition to Varma, the dynamic young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal might also get her T20I debut. Jaffer claimed that the left-hander’s aggression is exactly what India needs at the top of the order.
Yashasvi Jaiswal bats at the top of the order, thus we need to take an aggressive stance. He approaches things fearlessly. He’s in excellent shape and exudes incredible confidence. Simply expecting him to perform as he did in the IPL, the former opener said.
The former cricket player concluded by saying that he hopes Jaiswal and Varma perform well in the T20I series.
“They bring excellence. The performance of Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal in this T20 series is something I am extremely interested in seeing,” he remarked.
India had previously defeated the West Indies 1-0 in the Test series and 2-1 in the one-day internationals.
