Hazratullah Zazai
Hazratullah Zazai was born on 23rd March 1998. He is an Afghan cricket player. He made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in December in the year 2016. In February 2019, he scored the highest score by a batsman of Afghanistan in a Twenty20 International. He made an unbeaten 162 runs off 62 balls against Ireland.
Domestic and T20 franchise career
He debuted for List A for Amo Region in the year 2017. The tournament was Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament which took place on 10 August 2017. Zazai made his first-class debut for Band-e-Amir in the 2017–18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. This tournament was hosted on 20 October 2017.
In September 2018, he was included in Kabul Zwanan’s squad in the first edition of the Afghanistan Premier League tournament. On 14 October 2018, Zazai hit six sixes in 6 consecutive deliveries. The match was against Balkh Legends. In the process, Zazai made a record for fifty(fastest) in Twenty20 cricket in 12 deliveries. He was the leading run-scorer in the Kabul Zwanan tournament. Zazai scored 322 runs in ten matches.
In October 2018, Zazai was selected to be in the squad for the Dhaka Dynamites team. In November 2019, he was in the Rajshahi Royals team in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League. In October 2020, he was acquired by the Galle Gladiators for the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League.
International career
Zazai made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against the UAE on 16 December 2016. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for the Afghanistan team against Ireland on 27 August 2018.
In August 2018, against Ireland, Zazai managed to score the fastest fifty in the T20 International by a cricketer from Afghanistan in just 22 balls. In February 2019 against Ireland, he scored 162 without getting out. This was his first century in a T20I match. It was the highest score made by a batsman from Afghan in a T20I match. It was the second highest score overall, right behind Aaron Finch’s 172. His innings boasted a record of 16 sixes.
In April 2019, his name was included in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. In September 2021, Zazai was named to Afghanistan’s squad to play the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
