Harmanpreet Kaur Biography – Indian Women’s Team Cricketer. Harmanpreet Kaur is an all-rounder cricketer in the national women’s team of Indian cricket. She is the team’s captain in all formats and plays the role of a right-handed batter and a right-arm off-break bowler. Team India reached many milestones under her captaincy, including the T20 World Cup Finals in 2020.
Harmanpreet Kaur Career
Kaur’s father laid the foundation of her early knowledge of cricket. Later, she attended the Gian Jyoti School Academy under coach Kamaldeesh Singh Sodhi. Harmanpreet played her career’s first match against Pakistan in the 2009 World Cup. After that, she proved her meticulousness and dedication to the sport in many matches.
Kaur scored the winning runs in a T20 match against England in 2010, held in Mumbai. She led the Indian team for the first time in the finals of the T20 Asia Cup in 2012 as the then captain and vice-captain sustained injuries. India won that match against Pakistan by 81 runs.
Harmanpreet was also the team’s skipper in the Bangladesh tour of 2013. She bagged 195 runs in that series, including the second century in her ODI journey. Till now, everyone knew about the batting skills of this talented cricketer. However, in a test match against South Africa, everyone was taken aback by her bowling and fielding skills when she picked nine wickets.
So far, her best play as a batter is believed to be in the semi-finals of the 2017 World Cup. She scored a fabulous 171 runs off 115 balls, considered one of the most dominating scores by any women batter globally.

Kaur’s place of birth is Moga, Punjab, and her birthday is 8th March 1989. Her father is an ex-player of basketball and volleyball, her mother is a homemaker, and her sister is a professor. Besides the sport, Kaur joined Indian Railways in 2014 from her appointment in Mumbai.
