Harmanpreet Kaur: All the details to know about her, Harmanpreet Kaur was born on the 8th of March in the year 1989. She is an Indian cricket player. Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the India Women’s National Cricket Team in all formats. She is an all-rounder who plays for the Indian women’s cricket team. Kaur was honored with the Arjuna Award for Cricket in 2017. Harmanpreet was awarded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
In November 2018, she went on to become the first Indian cricketer to score a century in a Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) match.
In October 2019, she became the first Indian cricketer to play in 100 international Twenty20 matches. The series that witnessed this was against South Africa,
A coach, Kamaldish Singh Sodhi, decided to build a girls’ team in cricket.
Harmanpreet came off as a medium pace all-rounder. She reserved a place in India’s 2009 World T20 squad.
Harmanpreet Kaur real struggle started after she entered the team. As an aspiring lead bowler, Harmanpreet faced stalwarts like Jhulan Goswami and Amita Sharma. After watching their bowling, she decided to put all her energies into developing her batting a notch above others. Kaur soon became a go-to batter in all crisis situations. On her father’s insistence, Harmanpreet started as an off-spinner. She thus established herself as a vital cog in the side.
Kaur imbibed the values of patience and remodeled her game. She managed to strike a perfect balance between aggression and caution. Kaur never put a halt to her learning.
2016-17 had been a breakthrough time period for Harmanpreet. She was handed the captaincy in the wake of a disastrous World T20 campaign at home. Initially, she lost her three-match home series against the West Indies. But then, Harmanpreet led India to their sixth straight Asia Cup crown.
Harmanpreet Kaur is the first Indian cricketer, male or female, to be signed in a foreign T20 league. 3 WBBL teams called in to sign the aggressive middle-order batter. She was acquired by the inaugural champions Sydney Thunder. Harmanpreet Kaur won the franchise’s Player of the Tournament award for her exemplary performance in the debut season. The T20 captain signed up with Surrey Stars for the second edition of ECB’s Women’s Cricket League.
