All-rounder Pandya might become a permanent Vice Captain
Initially, BCCI was trying KL Rahul as vice-captain though he was not permanent. During many series, KL Rahul was named as vice-captain and captain. However, KL Rahul is currently unfit and Pandya has shown great potential as captain. Recently he won his maiden IPL title for his team as captain. He also led the Indian Cricket team in the Zimbabwe 3-match series.
As per the Information, Hardik would be the potential Vice captain in the T20 Squad that will be announced on September 15 for the World Cup. A higher BCCI official says ” he is a great player and with his fitness, he is a great addition to the team. His selection as vice-captain in the squad is up to selectors, but he is already a leader in the team. He has great leadership skills, we all saw that in the IPL edition this year.”
” However, it’s important to manage his workload. We have many T20s and ODIs, tests lined up, so it’s not possible for an all-rounder to play all matches. As for tests, we have Jadeja, Shardul and when Deepak Chahar will come back from injury, he also might be considered for tests.”
